The Baton Rouge Area Sports Administration estimates an $18 million to $20 million economic impact. Baton Rouge last hosted the regional championship tournament in 2010. More than 200 teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas are expected to participate in the 2014 event. Visit Baton Rouge has partnered with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge to create and distribute hand-painted soccer balls at local attractions and restaurants to encourage players and families to explore the area.
