Louisiana Tech pays visit to Arkansas
UL-Lafayette travels to play Houston
RUSTON — Louisiana Tech hits the road to face nationally ranked Arkansas in nonconference baseball action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Ark.
The game will be televised by Cox Sports Television.
Dickey-Stephens Park is the home of the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Chris Sadberry (2-1) will start for the Bulldogs (23-23) as Tech looks for its sixth consecutive win after a three-game sweep over San Jose State and two wins against Hawaii.
Alex Williams paces the Bulldogs as his 11 home runs are tied for the Western Athletic Conference lead.
Arkansas (35-17) dropped two of three games to Auburn last weekend. Arkansas’ Matt Reynolds has reached base in 35 straight games and has hit safely in eight straight. For the season, Reynolds is hitting a team-best .337 with five homers and 34 RBIs. Dominic Ficociello is batting .320 with a team-high tying six homers and a team-leading 35 RBIs.
LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE AT HOUSTON: The Cajuns head to Houston to take on the Cougars in a game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Cougar Field.
ULL (23-27) is coming off a series win at Middle Tennessee in Sun Belt play. The Cajuns are led by Ryan Leonards’ .335 average. Leonards is followed by Chase Compton (.330) and Tyler Girouard (.304). Dylan Butler leads the team with eight home runs and 45 RBIs.
The Cougars (17-30-1) are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Tulane. Houston is led by Jacob Lueneburg’s .313 average and team-best 52 hits and 12 stolen bases.
Junior Matt Hernandez (0-2, 6.66 ERA) will get the start for Houston. The southpaw has made 14 appearances and three starts. In 25.2 innings, Hernandez has struck out 17.
MCNEESE STATE AT ULM: In Monroe, the Cowboys will take on Louisiana-Monroe at 3 p.m. in a game that was originally scheduled March 21 but postponed because of inclement weather.
McNeese (22-26) is coming off a three-game sweep of UT Arlington and carries a 22-26 overall record. UL Monroe (25-26) and beat the Cowboys 8-6 two weeks ago in Lake Charles.
Outfielder Seth Granger leads the Cowboys with a .335 average with a team-high four home runs along with 63 hits, 30 runs scored, 12 doubles, four triples and a .505 slugging percentage.
ULM is led by Caleb Clowers, who has a 23-game on-base streak. Clowers is hitting .353 with 13 RBIs in his last 23 games. Jeremy Sy ranks first in the Sun Belt Conference with a .398 average in league play.
