Ragin’ Cajuns standout Orgeron on Player of the Year Watch List

LAFAYETTE — University of Louisiana at Lafayette senior softball player Christi Orgeron was named to the “Watch List” for the 2012 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award announced on Wednesday from the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America.
Orgeron, a utility player from New Orleans, was Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist last year.
As a junior, Orgeron was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and SBC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading ULL to its 10th SBC regular-season championship and 11th conference tournament title.
Orgeron hit .414 with 23 home runs and 101 RBIs — a mark that led the nation in 2011 and ranks third all-time in the NCAA.
