After a two-game suspension, Porter will make his 2014 debut Saturday against UL-Monroe.LSU senior center Elliott Porter is one of 66 players selected to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List, the Boomer Esiason Foundation announced Tuesday. The award is presented annually to college football’s most outstanding center. Porter, from Waggaman, started 12 games last season and helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for a single-season school record 37 rushing touchdowns. LSU also became the first team in Southeastern Conference history to produce two 1,000-yard receivers (Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Jeremy Hill) in the same season. Porter blocked for quarterback Zach Mettenberger, who finished third in LSU single-season history with 3,082 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. In 2013, Porter played 787 total snaps and finished with 61 knockdowns, which included a career-high eight in LSU’s 34-10 victory against Texas A&M. LSU All-American Ben Wilkerson won the Rimington Trophy as a senior in 2004. The winner of the trophy is selected by determining the consensus All-America center pick from the Walter Camp, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America teams. The 2014 winner will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.
