Robin Fambrough| firstname.lastname@example.org May 02, 2014 Comments Catholic High football coach Dale Weiner said star running back Derrius Guice, Louisiana’s top running back prospect for 2015, has been suspended from the football program for spring practice. “(Guice) is currently not part of the team,” Weiner said. “At some point during the summer, he can be reinstated, and we hope that happens. I have no other comment other than that.” The 6-foot, 210-pound Guice is a four-star recruit. He has already committed to play in the Under Armour All-America all-star game. He is rated No. 8 among running backs and No. 95 overall nationally by Rivals.com. As a junior, Guice earned Class 5A all-state and all-metro honors after rushing for 1,101 yards and 13 touchdowns in a season that was shortened by injuries. He also had two kick returns for TDs. Guice also was suspended for one game last fall. During the indoor track season, Guice placed third in Division I in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.02 seconds, helping the Bears win a state title. But he has not been part of the school’s track team during the outdoor season. A number of high-profile schools, including LSU, Alabama and Texas, are among those recruiting Guice.
