The Pelicans announced that guard Eric Gordon (knee tendonitis) will not play in Saturday's game against the defending NBA champion Miami Heat in the Smoothie King Center.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra announced that All-Star guard Dwyane Wade (knee) and reserve center Gred Oden would not play because of injuries as well.

Wade, in his 10th season, averages 19.3 points and 4.9 assists.

Oden, in his second season out of Ohio State, averages 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game. He rarely plays back-to-back games.
