Since District 4-5A play began, its been a tale of two separate seasons for Broadmoor High boys and girls basketball coach Terrence Gillette.

Thanks to another forecast calling for winter storm conditions on Tuesday, Gillette will get to host with both teams at the same site on the same day. Broadmoor hosts Zachary at 5 p.m. Monday with a junior varsity boys game. Varsity girls and boys games will follow.

District 4-5A normally plays its boys and girls games at separate sites on the same night. In order for Gillette to coach both teams, a scheduling compromise had to be made. Broadmoor plays all its home games on Mondays or Thursdays to make things work.

The Bucs and Broncos decided to simplify things by moving Tuesday’s boys game, scheduled for Zachary to Monday at Broadmoor.

“Yes, it will be nice,” Gillette said. “We’ll return the favor and go to Zachary for the second round when the boys play. Since we already had to push our boys game with Scotlandville back, we didn’t want to push another game back.”

The Zachary-Broadmoor boys game was one of several moved from Tuesday to Monday.

The list includes Walker at Denham Springs boys in District 5-5A and West St. John at Ascension Catholic girls-boys in 8-1A are both set for 5 p.m. Also, in District 8-B Holden hosts Hosanna Christian for girls-boys games at 6 p.m.

There was one other date/site switch. East Ascension will travel to Dutchtown for a District 5-5A girls game set for Monday at 5:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday at EAHS.

In District 5-1A, the Catholic-Pointe Coupee at False River Academy girls and boys games were shifted from Tuesday to Thursday, also retaining a 5 p.m. start time.
