The versatile setter/hitter did a little bit of everything for St. Joseph’s. Harrell led SJA with 446 assists and 37 aces while also posting 199 kills, 201 digs and 129 blocks. In the state finals, Harrell had 24 assists and 22 digs as the top-seeded Redstickers (45-1) topped Mt. Carmel in a thrilling five-set affair to capture the school’s ninth state title. With this latest award, Harrell adds it to a collection that includes being named to the All-Tournament Teams at both the Cabrini Tournament and St. Joseph’s Red-Hot Sticker Classic. Harrell also was selected as the Division I, District 2 Most Valuable Player and, most notably, the Outstanding Player in the Division I State final. The team Rondolyn Bryant/McKinley, Sr. McKinley’s team MVP is a two-time All-Metro pick and finished with 341 kills. Kara Gremillion/St. Amant, Jr. Finished with 546 digs and was voted Defensive MVP for Division I, District 3. Madison Daigle/St. Joseph’s, Jr. Division I, District 2 choice had 220 kills and 183 blocks for the Redstickers. Tori Vinick/East Ascension, Sr. Division I, District 3 MVP compiled a team-high 269 kills and 109 blocks. Jacie McClure/St. Joseph’s, Sr. Defensive catalyst for the Redstickers finished with a team-high 543 digs. Hanna Rovira/St. Joseph’s, Jr. Division I, District 2 Offensive MVP had 384 kills and a .391 hitting percentage. Jordan Stephens/Central, Fr. Division II, District 4 MVP set the pace for the Wildcats with 348 kills. Christie Slay/St. Michael, Sr. Had 125 kills and 30 aces and earned All-Division II, District 4 honors. Alli Duplechein/St. Amant, Jr. Set a school record for blocks in a season with 108 and compiled 424 kills. Biannca Pierre/Zachary, Sr. A first-team Division I, District 2 pick had 137 kills and 53 digs for the Broncos. Christian Jones/Belaire, Sr. Division II, District 4 Defensive MVP finished with posting 140 blocks and 124 digs. Honorable mention: Kelly Young, St. Amant, Sr.; Kasey Fraser, St. Michael, Sr.; Paige Roberts, Central, Sr.; Kristen Thompson, Dutchtown, Fr.; Toni Rodriguez, St. Amant, Sr.; Nila Rice, Zachary, Sr.; Carmisha Payton, East Ascension, Sr.; Tia Coleman, Zachary, Sr.; Chelsey Wilkerson, East Ascension, So. Coach of the Year: Sivi Miller, St. Joseph’s Academy Miller coached the Redstickers to a 45-1 record and the Division I state title, the school’s first since winning back-to-back titles in 2008-09. Divisions III, IV, V Most Valuable Player: Presley Stoltzfus (University, Sr.) In her final season for UHS, Stoltzfus helped the Cubs advance to the Division IV semifinals before falling to eventual state champion, Newman. She powered the Cubs on defense with a team-high 332 digs. She also contributed 52 service aces, 26 assists and a 66.7 hitting percentage. The senior libero was an easy choice for the Division IV, District 2 first team. In addition, Stoltzfus was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the South Louisiana Tournament after she helped propel University past Barbe with six digs and two aces in a straight set win in the finals. She maintained her defensive consistency from the start of the season to finish as she posted a team-high 8 digs in the semifinals against Newman. The team Lindsay Flory/University, Jr. Division IV, District 2 MVP tallied 413 assists, 274 kills and 227 digs. Charlotte Russell/Episcopal, Jr. Led the Division IV Knights with 426 assists and also contributed 120 digs. Macey Stock/Parkview Baptist, Jr. Powered the defense with 656 digs for the Eagles, a Division III quarterfinalist. Johnne Leblanc/Brusly, Jr. Division III, District 4 MVP helped lead the Panthers with a total of 291 kills. Anna Catherine Padgett/Dunham, Fr. Division V, District 4 MVP paced the Tigers with 371 kills and 359 digs. Victoria Weaver/St. John, Sr. Helped the Division V Eagles to the quarterfinals with 351 kills and 129 digs. Sarah Elliott/Catholic-Pointe Coupee, So. Defensive MVP in Division V, District 3 finished the season with 518 digs. Keri Yarbrough/St. John, So. Division V, District 3 MVP had 199 kills and 68 aces to help lead the Eagles. Kourtney Khalid-Abasi/Runnels, Sr. Finished with totals of 269 kills and 128 digs for the Division V Raiders. Christy Dearie/Parkview Baptist, So. Voted PBS’ top offensive player and had 281 digs, 236 kills and 64 aces. Marygrace Constantin/University, Jr. Helped the Cubs to the Division IV semifinals with 201 kills and 60 blocks. Honorable Mention: Reyna Jones, Ascension Christian, Sr.; Hailey Coutee, Catholic-Pointe Coupee, Sr.; Kylie Tolar, Brusly, Sr.; Katie Spears, Parkview, Sr.; Erika Grant, Episcopal, Jr.; Victoria Schexnayder, Ascension Christian, Sr.; Rebecca Fennell, Runnels, Sr.; Riley Tomeny, University, Sr.; Payton Passantino, St. John, So. Coach of the Year: Bonita Johnson, University Johnson coached the Cubs to a berth in the Division IV semifinals and an impressive 38-6 record that included a District 4, District 2 title.
