Advocate staff report Aug. 04, 2013 Comments The Louisiana High School Coaches Association’s annual coaching clinic is set to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza. Guest speakers and sessions begin at 9 a.m. and run through 6 p.m. The LHSCA’s general business meeting helps highlight the first day and is set for 2 p.m. Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Kennedy and University of Louisiana at Lafayette football coach Mark Hudspeth are among Tuesday’s notable speakers. Both Kennedy and Hudspeth are set to speak at 1 p.m. The three-day event continues through Thursday morning and features a number of guest speakers in a variety of sports, along with business meetings for coaches involved in baseball, basketball, football, powerlifting, soccer softball and track and field. Football and volleyball rules clinics also will be conducted. On Wednesday, sessions begin at 9 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m. LSU will host a barbecue for football coaches at its football operations center at 5:30 p.m. Running backs coach Frank Wilson and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron are scheduled to speak at the barbecue. Coaches are required to pay $5 to attend the barbecue in accordance with NCAA rules. Thursday’s sessions start at 9 a.m. and run through 11 a.m. In addition to the speakers, exhibitors displaying a wide array of sporting goods/equipment also are scheduled to be on site on Tuesday and Wednesday.
