Bailey Tardy and Zach Tracy emerged as the first-round leaders at the American Junior Golf Association’s Arrowhead Junior at The Bluffs Tournament on Tuesday.
Tardy, of Norcross, Ga., shot a 3-under-par 70 to lead the girls field competing at The Bluffs in St. Francisville. Houston’s Tracy, who carded a 2-under 71, tops the boys division. The three-day tourney continues Wednesday with tee times starting at 7 a.m.
Tracy carded four birdies in the first round. Klein Klotz, of Austin, Texas, and Henry Gee, of Hiram, Ga., are tied for second in the boys division. Ponchatoula’s Blake Caldwell shot a 74 to lead all Louisiana competitors. Caldwell is part of a three-way tie for fourth.
Tardy birdied three of the first four holes to set a torrid pace in the girls division. Kathleen Gallagher, of Greenwood, Miss., shot an even-par 73 and is second. Baton Rouge’s Sydney Cavin shot a 3-over 76 to lead Louisiana-based girls competitors. Cavin is tied for fifth.
