Central Connecticut State softball eliminates Northwestern State Central Connecticut State softball eliminates Northwestern State Scott Hotard| Advocate sportswriter May 28, 2013 Comments Central Connecticut State won the school’s first NCAA tournament softball game Saturday, cruising to a 9-1 victory over Northwestern State to earn a rematch with Baton Rouge Regional host LSU in an elimination game. Central Connecticut (36-14) and LSU are set to play at 6:05 p.m. Saturday in the final game of the regional’s second day. The winner of that game will meet unbeaten Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m. Sunday and will need to beat the Ragin’ Cajuns twice to reach the super regional round. LSU scored a 3-2 victory against Central Connecticut on Friday. The Blue Devils are making their first NCAA tournament appearance. Northwestern, the Southland Conference champion, finished its season 40-13. The Demons fell to 0-8 in NCAA play.
