Same goes for Leslie Majors’ standout efforts on defense. Morgan, a former Sarah Reed High School standout, caught 13 passes for a season-high 255 yards and five touchdowns, but the VooDoo fell 65-54 to the Spokane Shock in Spokane, Wash. The VooDoo (1-7) have lost their last seven games. Spokane improved to 5-3. Morgan’s performance coincided with the return of starting quarterback Kurt Rocco, who missed the past three games with a medial collateral ligament strain in his left knee. On Friday, Rocco completed 22 of 38 passes for 318 yards and seven TDs. Rocco also threw three interceptions and was harassed all game by James Ruffin, who sacked him three times. Morgan caught his final score of the game, a 33-yard reception, with 8:38 left, trimming the VooDoo’s deficit to five. But quarterback Erik Meyer gave the Shock a quick score with a 37-yard TD pass to Adron Tennell and the Shock led 65-54. Rocco then led a seven-play drive to midfield, where he was strip-sacked by Ruffin with 2:18 remaining to seal the Shock’s win. Meyer led the Shock with 353 passing yards and six TDs. He was sacked once by Chris Brown and Majors, who on his play in the third quarter recovered the fumble and scored from 7 yards. Majors also had 81/2 tackles, a sack and an one interception. New Orleans heads back home to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, where they take on the Chicago Rush on May 25.
