Austin Rivers has successful hand surgery

The New Orleans Hornets announced today that rookie guard Austin Rivers underwent successful surgery at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City to repair a fracture in the fourth metacarpal of his right hand. The surgery was performed by hand specialist Dr. Charles P Melone. Rivers is currently recovering from the surgery.

The 20-year-old Rivers, will return to New Orleans by the end of this week in order to begin his rehabilitation. The process is expected to take four to six weeks.
