Top-seeded U-High girls cruise past Lakeview

Alanie Fisher scored 20 points, and DiMond Jackson added 14 as top-seeded University High cruised to a 71-24 victory over Lakeview on Monday night in the first round of the girls basketball playoffs.

Lakeview, which was seeded No. 32, was led by Donyelle Willis’ eight points and five from Ryann Cotton.

University improved to 27-6.

North Caddo 60, French Settlement 32: Ledertriha Sheppard scored 29 points, and Jasmine Thomas tallied 18 points for No. 7 seed North Caddo.

French Settlement, seeded No. 26, was led by Angel Letulle’s six points.

Red River 48, Episcopal 46: Red River, which was seeded No. 22, fended off 11th-seeded Episcopal after leading by five points at halftime.

Bria Johnson scored a game-high 24 points for Episcopal. Mary-Melissa Hoover added 17 in the loss.

Class 1A

Southern Lab 51, Westminster 36: Southern Lab held a slim two-point lead at the end of the third quarter but used a 20-7 fourth-quarter run to pull away.

Mount Hermon 48, Ouachita Christian 44: The No. 13 seed Yellowjackets used an 11-6 third quarter to build a two-point lead and fend off the Eagles.

Kaitlyn Barber scored a game-high 24 points for Mount Hermon (13-6), while Nicole Riley added 13. Ouachita Christian (16-13) was led by McKenzie Simmons’ 19 points, and it also got 18 from Kelsey Booth.

East Iberville 53, Basile 43: Chelsea Green scored 16 points, and No. 12 seed East Iberville (18-13) pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Jasmine Mosby added 12 points for East Iberville. No. 21 seed Basile was led by Rylie James’ 14.
