Ginn defends USSSA golf title Ginn defends USSSA golf title Advocate staff report Feb. 21, 2013 Comments Denham Springs’ Zachary Ginn had a two-round score of 152 to repeat as the USSSA Junior Golf tour’s President’s Cup champion last week at the Island Golf Course in Plaquemine. Ginn fired a 77 in the first round, followed by a 75 to take the title, while Steven Benoit, who was in fifth place heading into the second round, shot a 74 —including nine pars on the final nine holes — to force a tie for second with Skye Mejia of Lafayette with a 156. Jamison Thomassee of Opelousas finished fourth with a 160. In the boys 12-14 division, Zac Ciesla of Lake Charles fired a (77-81—158) to win the title, followed by Baton Rouge’s Cameron J. Little (159), Joel Boyett of Calhoun (161) and Charlie Flynn of Alexandria. Matthew Weber of Scott won the 18-hole boys 9-11-year-old title with a 93, followed by Baton Rouge’s Ryan Lam (96), New Orleans’ Damon Gibson (103) and Gretna’s Cassidy Lambert (110). Lambert was the only female golfer in the tournament.
