TULSA, Okla. — Damen Bell-Holter and Warren Niles combined for 43 points, and Oral Roberts withstood a second-half rally by Southeastern Louisiana to earn a 65-59 victory in a Southland Conference men’s basketball game Saturday.
Bell-Holter paced Oral Roberts (14-8, 9-1) with 23 points while pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds. Niles, the leading scorer in the SLC at 19.2 points per game, finished with 20 points.
ORU led 29-25 at halftime and opened the second half with an 8-0 run.
The Lions made an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 51-47 with 5:37 remaining. But ORU responded with seven straight to regain control.
Dre Evans and Brandon Fortenberry each scored 16 points to lead Southeastern (8-12, 6-4), while Jeffery Ricard added 10.
Troy 71, ULL 52: In Troy, Ala., Tevin Calhoun scored 15 points to lead Troy to a 71-52 victory against Louisiana-Lafayette in a Sun Belt Conference game.
Ray Chambers had 10 points for the Trojans (10-13, 5-7), who have won three of their past four.
Bryant Mbamalu had 16 points, Elfrid Payton and Alan-Michael Thompson added 11 each, and Shawn Long pulled down 11 rebounds to go with eight points for the Ragin’ Cajuns (8-16, 4-9).
Troy outshot Louisiana-Lafayette in all three categories, making 46.8 percent (26 of 55) on field goals to ULL’s 37.7 percent (20 of 53), 50 percent on 3-pointers (9 of 18) to 38.9 percent (7 of 18), and 83.3 percent (10 of 12) from the line to the Cajuns’ 50 percent (5 of 10).
Troy led 33-23 at halftime, and the closest the Cajuns got in the second half was 39-34. The Trojans’ 16-3 run clinched the game.
