Feb 9, 2013 08:01 Tulane men fall to Central Florida, 58-50 Tulane men fall to Central Florida, 58-50 Advocate news services Feb. 09, 2013 Comments NEW ORLEANS — After controlling the first half against Central Florida on Wednesday, Tulane could not sustain its momentum in the second half, as the Green Wave fell 58-50 to visiting UCF at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave (14-7, 2-4 C-USA) held a 28-21 lead at the break. After UCF (15-5, 5-1 C-USA) scored the first two points of the game, Tulane scored the next 13 points to take a 13-2 lead with 11:52 left. The Green Wave built a 16-4 lead, the largest of the game, with 10:03 left before UCF was able to chip away and cut the deficit down to one, 20-19, with 3:35 remaining before the Wave closed by scoring eight of the final nine points. The second half was a different story for the Green Wave as Tulane hit just seven of its 25 field goal attempts and committed 12 turnovers that led to 21 points for the Knights in the final 20 minutes. Josh Davis led Tulane with 18 points, nine rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots. Ricky Tarrant finished with 10 points, while Kendall Timmons added seven points and eight rebounds. Tulane shot 35.2 percent from the floor for the gameand outrebounded UCF, 42-40. The Green Wave next plays Saturday at UTEP scehduled for 8 p.m. at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.
