LSU’s Lloimincia Hall was named Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week on Wednesday for her role in LSU’s 196.875-196.575 upset win over Florida on Friday.
As the final performer of the meet, Hall needed a 9.675 or better to seal LSU’s win. She surpassed that, getting a 9.95 on her floor routine to win the event and clinch the Tigers’ upset victory.
Hall tied her career high in the all-around with a 39.450 to place second in the meet.
A sophomore from Dallas, Hall also tied her career high on beam with a 9.875, and finished a quarter-tenth off her career best on bars with a 9.825.
Hall’s floor title against Florida is her first event crown of the season and the 11th of her career. She ranks No. 2 nationally on floor with a 9.95 average, and is No. 10 in the all-around with a 39.350 average.
No. 5 LSU (2-0, 1-0 SEC) will take on No. 6 Alabama (1-0, 1-0) in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Coleman Coliseum.
LADY TIGERS VISIT HOSPITAL: Four members of the LSU women’s golf team visited Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital on Wednesday.
Katrina Hegge, Lindsay Gahm, Nadine Dreher and Elise Bradley went room to room making surprise visits to the children and handing out posters.
“We loved getting to spend time with the kids,” Hegge said. “It was amazing to see their positivity throughout all their struggles.”
