Capitol High Principal Roy Walker confirmed on Wednesday that Damieon Mills is longer the school's head football coach.

Mills, a former Capitol quarterback, was in his second year as head coach. The Class 2A Lions are 1-4. Their lone win was a 21-18 victory over Glen Oaks High three weeks ago. Capitol was 1-9 last season.

Walker said Claude Coleman, Capitol's first-year head boys basketball coach, has taken over as interim head football coach.

"Coach Mills is no longer on our staff," Walker said. "I asked coach Coleman if he would be willing to step in and he graciously accepted."

The Lions travel to The Dunham School (3-2) for a District 7-2A opener set for Friday.
