Saints plan to make 12 practice sessions open to public

The New Orleans Saints announced Tuesday that 12 training camp practices will be open to the public starting July 26.

The team will report to camp Tuesday, July 24, with conditioning tests scheduled for the next day before practice begins July 26. The workouts on July 26 and 27 will be non-padded practices before the Saints don full pads for the first time on Saturday, July 28.

According to a team news release, open practices are scheduled from July 26-29 (Thursday through Sunday), July 31-Aug. 3 (Tuesday through Friday) and Aug. 13-16 (Monday through Thursday). The Saints will break camp following their preseason home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 17.

Training camp workouts will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the team’s training facility located at 5800 Airline Drive in Metairie. In the event of inclement weather (including rain, lightning and extreme heat), the team will move indoors and close practice to the public because of space limitations.

The team warns that practice times and field locations are subject to change with little or no advance warning, so fans should check the website atneworleanssaints.com or the team Twitter account (@Saints) for scheduling changes and weather updates before traveling long distances.

All training camp workouts in Metairie are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reserved seating available. Fans can sit in bleacher seating along the north and west sides of the facility. Standing along the fence line is permitted.

There is no admission charge, and parking is free. Public parking is available in parking lots near the team facility off Airline Drive.

The Saints will also hold practices in Foxborough, Mass., from Aug. 6-8, traveling there directly after the Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 5.

The Saints will have a light walkthrough on Aug. 6, then work against the New England Patriots on Aug. 7-8 in preparation for their Aug. 9 preseason game in Gillette Stadium.

Team talk on NFL Network

The Saints will be featured Wednesday on the NFL Network’s “32 Teams in 32 Days” series, which previews each team heading into training camp.

The segment will air as part of the daily NFL Total Access show at 6 p.m., with a replay at 10 p.m.
