LeJeune takes job at Plaquemine

Tara High head football coach-athletic director Ron LeJeune has resigned to become offensive coordinator at Plaquemine High.

LeJeune was the Trojans’ head coach for four seasons. He previously served as
head coach at three other local schools: East Iberville,
St. John-Plaquemine and Belaire.

The hiring of LeJeune is a key one for new Plaquemine head coach Paul Distefano, who is in the process of reorganizing his staff since being hired earlier this year.

“I had decided a while back that I wouldn’t be coming back to Tara,” LeJeune said.

“I wasn’t sure what I was going to do and the chance to go to Plaquemine is a move that’s better for me and my family. I live 10 minutes from there, and I think I’ll enjoy calling the plays.”

In four seasons, LeJeune compiled a 15-15 mark at Tara. The Trojans’ best season under LeJeune was 2008 when they finished 7-2, won a district title and advanced to the Class 4A playoffs. In 2011, Tara finished 4-6.

LeJeune’s career includes head coaching stops at Class 1A East Iberville (1997-99), Class 1A St. John-Plaquemine (2000-01) and Class 4A Belaire (2002-05).

From 2006-07, LeJeune was an assistant coach at 3A Brusly High.

Tara’s plans to hire a new head coach have not yet been announced.
