NEW ORLEANS — The University of New Orleans baseball team split a season-opening doubleheader against No. 22 Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, winning the first game 7-1 before falling by a 7-1 score in the nightcap at Maestri Field.
Christian Cale (1-0) allowed a run on three hits with four strikeouts in his debut for UNO (1-1).
UNO put across four runs in the sixth with the help of three SAU errors. Blake LeBlanc and Dan Perkins had RBI singles, with Coleman tallying his third run of the contest on an error by Muleriders’ reliever Philip Menou.
In the second game, SAU (1-1) built a 7-0 lead in the first two innings to get the win.e_SClB
