In paring down its roster to 53 names, New Orleans parted ways with veteran wide receiver Robert Meachem Saturday afternoon. Meachem was engaged in a battle with Joe Morgan and Nick Toon for the final roster spots at wide receiver. Both Toon and Morgan made the cut. Meachem was a first-round pick of the Saints in the 2007 draft. He stayed with the team through the 2011 season, spent 2012 with the San Diego Chargers, and returned last season. He caught 16 passes for 324 yards last year. His best season came in 2009 when he made 45 catches for 722 yards.
