Saints undrafted rookie defensive end George Uko has been informed he will be waived as the team reduces its roster to 75 players in time for a 3 p.m. Tuesday deadline, a league source has told The Advocate.

Uko, who is 6 feet 3, 284 pounds and played at Southern California, played 22 snaps of defense in a New Orleans win at St. Louis on Aug. 8 and eight in the victory at Indianapolis on Saturday. He did not play in the win against Tennessee on Aug. 15.

Uko assisted on two tackles before the Saints let him go.

The Saints on Monday announced three cuts after practice: wide receiver Andy Tanner, T Ty Nsekhke and S Ty Zimmerman, who were all hurt. Then, Saints tight end Travis Beckum tweeted he had been released, and a league source told The Advocate that New Orleans would waive G/T Manase Foketi.

WWL Radio’s Kristian Garic on Monday also reported the Saints planned to release LB Victor Butler, who missed all of 2013 with a preseason knee injury and had been sidelined for much training camp hurt.

The Saints cut four other players last week: running back Timothy Flanders, tight end Je’Ron Hamm, outside linebacker Chidea Uzo-Diribe and wide receiver Tobais Palmer. Counting Butler’s release, that would all bring the Saints’ roster down to 79 players.
