The Iberville Community Center’s performance of “To Kill a Mockingbird” begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in the courtroom of Plaquemine City Court.

Additional performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a matinee set for 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s performance also includes a special dinner and escort by National Guard personnel to and from the performance. Friday’s dinner begins at 4 p.m.

There will be limited seating at each performance. Tickets are $10 each and tickets for special seating in the jury box are $20 each.

Tickets for Friday night’s dinner are $25 each. Friday’s dinner will take place at Orleans on the Avenue 2.

Home-buying class

Port Allen will host a class for low-income residents at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 on how to buy a home. The class will be conducted in the West Baton Rouge Library.

Attendees will receive information about the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program.

Participants must be present to get the information.

Iberville history

Mary Ann Sternberg, feature writer and nonfiction author, will present “Iberville and More — Come with Me to River Road” at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Iberville Museum.

The presentation will feature anecdotes from the rich history of River Road.

The event is free and open to the public.

Spaghetti dinner

St. Mary’s of False River’s Knights of Columbus Council 1998 will host a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary of False River Church.

Dinners are $8 a plate and include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and a dessert.

Tailgating fair

The West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets for its Tailgating Taste Fair from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Port Allen Community Center.

The chamber will award first-, second- and third-place honors for the best-decorated table and a people’s choice award will be given for the event’s best dish.

The Arts Council of Pointe Coupee is bringing the Opelousas Little Theatre’s production of “Hairspray” to the Poydras Center auditorium Aug. 23 as the final performance in the council’s 2013 Performing Arts Series.

The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets will be available at Roy’s Jewelers and Beauregard’s and also will be sold at the door on the evening of the performance.
