The Iberville Parish School District will begin its mandatory parent/student computer rollout meetings Wednesday at the Virtual Math, Science and Arts Academy-North campus with additional meetings scheduled at various school campuses through Sept. 4.

The school district is providing Apple laptop computers to all students in the seventh through 12th grades.

Orientation and computer pickup events will be held at each school, except on the parish’s east bank, where the rollout for MSA-East and East Iberville will both be held at the East Iberville School.

Attending orientation and rollout sessions are mandatory requirements for receiving laptops. A $40 rental fee per student is required.

Rollout meetings are scheduled as follows:

Virtual MSA-North: 9 a.m. Wednesday.

MSA-East/East Iberville: 2 p.m. Tuesday and 3 p.m., Aug. 21.

MSA-West: 3 p.m., Aug. 22; 2 p.m., Aug. 23; and 3 p.m., Aug. 26.

White Castle High: 3 p.m., Aug. 27, and Aug. 28 at 2 p.m.

Plaquemine High: 3 p.m., Aug. 29; 1 p.m., Aug. 30; and 3 p.m., Sept. 4.

Hairspray

The Arts Council of Pointe Coupee is bringing the Opelousas Little Theatre’s production of “Hairspray” to the Poydras Center auditorium Aug. 23 as the final performance in the council’s 2013 Performing Arts Series.

The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets will be available at Roy’s Jewelers and Beauregard’s and will also be sold at the door on the evening of the performance.

‘Belles’ auditions

The Iberville Community Theatre will hold auditions for “Christmas Belles” from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Iberville Parish Library Main Branch meeting room.

The play is scheduled to be performed Dec. 18 and 19.

There are 11 available roles for actors from ages 20 to 60. Those who audition can read from a script or prepare their own reading.

Eyeglasses recycling

The Brusly Lions Club and Keep West Baton Rouge Beautiful are partnering to collect used eyeglasses throughout the parish that will be sent to the Harahan Lions Home for cleaning and classification before they are repackaged and shipped to Louisiana residents who cannot afford new eyeglasses.

To donate your used eyeglasses, just bring them to one of the following locations: Daniel’s Pharmacy, Noah’s Pharmacy, Steven’s Pharmacy, Bourg’s Drug Store, Dr. Higgins’ office, Dr. Padgett’s office, the West Baton Rouge Library, the West Baton Rouge Parish Council Administration Building, the West Baton Rouge Council on Aging, Wal-Mart Eye Center and the Westside YMCA in Addis.

Art workshop

The Iberville chapter of the Louisiana Art and Artists Guild will host a two-day art workshop conducted by Sandra Keller from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Aug. 22.

The workshop will take place at the Rosedale Art Depot, 15201 Depot Road.
