Jones| Westside bureau July 17, 2013 Comments Southern Independent Riders will host its Seventh annual Poker Run on July 27. The first bike/car will leave Sugarpatch Lounge, 1822 Plantation Ave., Port Allen, at 10 a.m, and the last bike/car will return there at 4 p.m. There are several pit stops in Addis and Grosse Tete. The entry fee is $20 per driver and $10 per passenger, which includes a meal ticket. The event will feature live music by Racoon, door prizes, a raffle drawing and jambalaya for dinner. Card Party The West Baton Rouge Historical Association hosts its Eighth annual “Christmas in July” card party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 29 at the West Baton Rouge Community Center. Members of the public are invited to try their luck at bridge, hand and foot canasta, Shanghai rummy, Sequence, Pokeno and other card games. Back-to-school giveaway The North Iberville Community Center will have a Back-to-School Supply Giveaway from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be several community partners providing school supplies and other items. Dinner Theatre The Iberville Community Theatre presents its interactive murder-mystery dinner theatre “Cat on a Hot Tin Streetcar” at 5 p.m. Sunday at The Comogo Room in Plaquemine. Tickets must be pre-purchased because seating is limited. Patrons are advised that the play includes some adult humor and innuendo. Dinner consists of shrimp and corn soup, salad, Cornish game hen with cornbread dressing, green beans, a dessert bar and iced tea. A cash bar also will be available. Crochet classes Iberville Parish’s Parks & Recreation District and a group called “We Are the Difference” will sponsor crochet classes on July 23 and July 30. The classes, taught by Plaquemine resident Charlene Bishop, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the west wing of the Carl F. Grant Civic Center. Scooby-Doo movies The West Baton Rouge Museum is hosting Scooby-Doo movie-watching events every Saturday in July at the museum. Everyone is invited to show up wearing pajamas and to bring along their pillows and blankets while enjoying movies about their favorite canine detective. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Scheduled features include: “Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost” on Saturday, “Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island” on July 27 and the live-action flick “Scooby-Doo” on Aug. 3.
