New Roads shooting suspect turns himself in

A New Roads man suspected in the fatal shooting of another man at a bar Saturday turned himself in to the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday morning, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Joshua Wayne Louis, 25, 606 Carver Drive, was booked into the parish jail on one count of second-degree murder in the death of Demona Anthony Brown, Capt. Steve Juge said.

Juge said Brown, 36, was shot once in the face Saturday night during an altercation with Louis at AJ’s Bar on La. 420.

Based on witness statements, detectives found that Saturday’s shooting stemmed from an incident that happened about two weeks ago, Juge said.

However, he provided no details Monday about that incident.
