Storytime programs for preschoolers will be presented at 10 a.m. on four upcoming Wednesdays by Jennifer Shellman in the Youth Services Department at the West Baton Rouge Parish Library. The dates are March 20 and March 27 as well as April 3 and April 10.
The half-hour storytimes offer books, songs, rhymes and creative activities for children 3, 4, and 5 years old.
Preregistration is required.

St. Mary’s of False River Knights of Columbus members invite the public to their annual fried catfish dinner fundraiser scheduled March 8 in New Roads.
Dinners will be available to go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parish hall. Dinners will be $8 a plate and include fried catfish, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and cookie.

Tickets are on sale for the 20th annual Cancer Survivors Luncheon scheduled for April 3 at the Scott Civic Center in New Roads.
Tickets, $15 per person, include a catered lunch and dessert.
Tickets can be purchased at Pointe Coupee Home Health, 350 Hospital Road. The deadline to buy tickets is March 26.
State Police Col. Mike Edmonson will serve as the event’s guest speaker.
The luncheon will also feature door prizes, a silent auction and health-care vendors.
The West Baton Rouge Museum will host a Civil War-era cooking class at 10:30 a.m. March 12 titled, “A Battle for Food.”
The event will feature expert open-hearth cook Gayle Smith.
Smith will guide participants in open-hearth cooking techniques using the type of foodstuffs and recipes from the Civil War era that reflect the changes and shortages between 1861 and 1865.

Students from East Iberville High School and the Math, Arts and Science Academy-East are operating a free Tax Center at the St. Gabriel Community Center as part of their schools’ service learning programs.
The students are Internal Revenue Service-certified in basic and intermediate levels for tax return preparation under the supervision of business teacher Tracy Warren.
The Tax Center is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and every other Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
