Plaquemine is inviting all children to a day of water fun at its Splash Bash on Saturday at Plaquemine City Park.

The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Splash Bash will feature the opening of the water spray park plus the Double Slip and Slide with pool, Big Kahuna double slide and Water Wars balloon fight.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be served.

State treasurer to speak

State Treasurer John Kennedy will serve as the guest speaker for the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce’s May membership lunch meeting.

The lunch will begin at noon Wednesday at the Addis Community Center.

The luncheon is $20 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers.

Barbecue dinner

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church will host its annual family festival Sunday at 11140 La. 77 in Maringouin.

Barbecued chicken dinners will be served for $6 a plate from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The event also will feature a raffle for $1,000, bingo and face painting for children.

Bingo will take place Friday immediately following a 5 p.m. social.

Last chance

The West Baton Rouge Parish Library offers its final session of computer classes to parish residents from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Attendees will be instructed in basics of computer operations and navigation such as performing searches, using email and learning about Microsoft Word.

June Jams

New Roads kicks off its “June Jams” live music series downtown on Saturday with 5-D Band.

Live music will be presented from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every other Saturday in June.

City officials said local vendors will be on hand and local restaurants will offer specials on the scheduled days of the concerts. Free parking also will be available.

Saturday Morning Fun

The West Baton Rouge Parish Library invites parents to bring babies and toddlers to participate in various games and fun activities during its “Saturday Morning Fun” events every Saturday in June.

The 45-minute sessions will feature children’s music, puppets, wiggle activities, nursery rhymes, dancing, rhythm band, arts and crafts, and reading.

The sessions will take place in the library’s Early Learning Center.

The Fun program for infants and babies up to 23 months will meet from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The Fun for toddlers between the ages of 2 and 31/2 years old begins at 11 a.m.

The events are free but parents must register their children in advance by calling (225) 342-7920, ext. 227.
