2nd suspect charged in fatal March shooting
PLAQUEMINE — Iberville Parish sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday arrested a second suspect in connection with a March 30 fatal shooting at a Plaquemine motel.
Jason Banks, 41, of Allen Street in Plaquemine, was arrested at 10 a.m. and booked into the Iberville Parish Jail on conspiracy and drug counts related to the slaying in the Relax Inn Motel, sheriff’s Detective Hosea Anderson said.
Anderson said investigators believe Banks conspired with another suspect, Jerome Harden, on a botched robbery attempt that resulted in the death of Ryan Daley, 31, 63900 Bayou Jacob Road, Plaquemine.
Port Allen police arrested Harden, 21, 58770 Allen St., Plaquemine, on April 6 and booked him with second-degree murder of Daley.
Sheriff’s investigators reported Daley and three other people were inside a room at the motel on La. 1 around 4:30 a.m. when the shooter knocked on the door and fired one bullet into the room after someone opened the door.
