Around the Westside for March 25
The Iberville Parish Head Start program is accepting applications for Children born between October 2007 and December 2009 for the 2012-2013 school year.
Applications are available at Iberville Parish Head Start centers in Plaquemine and Bayou Sorrel, and at Dorseyville Elementary School, North Iberville School and East Iberville School.

Health Fair
The public is invited to a community health fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church Campus, 807 New Roads St. in New Roads.
The fair will have health screenings and information on cancer, HIV, high blood pressure, diabetes, childhood obesity, healthy lifestyles, bullying prevention and access to health services.

Museum events
The public is invited to join the West Baton Rouge Museum in a celebration of the state’s 200th anniversary by taking a bus trip to New Orleans on Monday to visit sites central to Louisiana’s history.

The museum is also offering “A Bicentennial Celebration” event Saturday through July 29 featuring the top 200 people, places and events that shaped the character of the state.
Heirlooms event
Bring antiques and collectibles to be appraised and discover the value and significance of different Louisiana-related items and objects at the Louisiana Association of Museum’s “Heirloom Roadshow” from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the West Baton Rouge Parish Community Center, 749 N. Jefferson Ave., Port Allen.
Friday film
The Pointe Coupee Parish Historical Society presents the 1991 movie “The Man on the Moon,” the story of a love triangle involving teenage sisters in rural Louisiana as part of the free “Last Friday Louisiana Film Series,” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Julien Poydras Center in New Roads.
Dow gives
Dow Chemical Corp. is taking applications for its annual Community Gives grant program for charitable organizations, nonprofits, and municipal and government agencies.
Qualifying organizations that support science, technology, engineering, math, education, economic development and other criteria will share in the $100,000 award.
Applications will be accepted online only through May 31.

Original play
The public is invited to watch actor Daniel Ladmirault play historical Louisiana figure Julien Poydras in the “Poydras: 1812 Overtures” original play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Poydras Center, 500 W. Main St., New Roads.
