St. James man dies in wreck near White Castle

WHITE CASTLE — A St. James man died in a single-vehicle wreck on La. 1 south of White Castle shortly after midnight Sunday, State Police spokesman Russell Graham said Monday.

Kennie Harrison, 28, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR northbound on La. 1 when he ran off the road to the right, entered a ditch and struck a culvert, Graham said in a news release.

Harrison, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office, Graham said.

Troopers suspect Harrison was impaired at the time of the wreck, Graham said.

Harrison’s blood sample has been submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, Graham said.
