Council OKs restaurant site plan

Amrhein and members recognized eight-year Councilman John Coghlan of District 3 and 13-year Councilman Dan Wallis of District 4. Coghlan lost the Nov. 4 election to Laura O'Brien and Wallis is retiring. Ben Cavin won Wallis's seat over Sharon McKnight. Wallis is seated and standing, from left, are Francis Nezianya, Amrhein, Tommy Womack, Coghlan and Brandon Noel.

Teams take to Jackson streets for annual race

Advocate staff photo by STACY GILL -- Teams in the ninth-annual Ebenezer Scrooge Reindeer Races in Jackson competed Dec. 13 to see which team was the champ. The races are sponsored by the Jackson Tourism Enhancement Committee. First place team and overall winner was St. Francisville Mayor Billy D'Aquilla and Marcus McGehee, and second place team was Clinton Mayor Lori Ann Bell and Police Chief Fred Dunn. Competing teams included Town Marshall Larry Sagely and Natile Busillo; tax assessor Jeff Gardner and Garrett Gardner; Jackson town treasurer Holli Gilmore and Noel Gilmore; Scotty Dawson and Chris Guillot of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department; and Norwood Alderman Willie Duncan and his wife Tonia Duncan. The 'O-Fish-Al, O-Fish-Al' was Jim Hendrickson of JTEC with participating 'O-Fish-Als' Martin MacDarmaid and Katrina Pearson, among several others.
