Bobby Jindal Friday touted Baton Rouge’s finish as a top-ranked metropolitan area for economic growth potential. Business Facilities magazine punted Baton Rouge to the top of the list after IBM announced plans to build a downtown technology center. The center will employ hundreds of people. “Baton Rouge has put itself in the forefront of a burgeoning software sector ... We expect this sector to grow exponentially in coming years,” said the magazine’s editor in chief, Jack Rogers. Business Facilities is a trade publication, based in Tinton Falls, N.J., for corporate site selectors, Shreveport made the magazine’s top 10 list for areas with economic growth potential while New Orleans grabbed the ranking of top logistic leader in the 2013 Metro Rankings Report. Jindal also lauded Lafayette for finishing first in the best midsize city, best city in the South and best overall city categories in a ranking by site selection magazine Area Development. “These great rankings show our reforms are working. Every day Louisiana is becoming a better place to start a family and start a business,” the governor tweeted.
