Senate Bill 154 by state Sen. Ed Murray would authorize an agreement with BioDistrict New Orleans to build a courthouse in Duncan Plaza at 325 Loyola Ave. The building would house the Orleans Parish Civil Courts. SB154 also would allow the transfer of the now-vacant LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center to the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority. The transfer would give the public time to develop a new use for the 14-acre tract. Murray, D-New Orleans, said the House only made technical changes to the legislation. The Senate voted 36-0 in favor of accepting the changes, sending the bill to the governor’s desk.
