Baton Rouge bond bill advances Baton Rouge bond bill advances capitol news bureau April 29, 2013 Comments A Louisiana House committee advanced legislation Thursday that would add to the expense of bonding out of jail on a Baton Rouge City Court case. A substitute bill filed in place of House Bill 313 calls for defendants to pay an additional $35 on criminal bonds. Baton Rouge Constable Reggie Brown told the House Committee on Judiciary that his office needs the fee because of expenses such as overtime and fuel. He said Baton Rouge has the largest city court in Louisiana. “It won’t help us recover it all but it will help,” he said. The committee amended the bill to give defendants 30 days to recoup the fee if their case is dropped or results in an acquittal.
