Donaldsonville, Gonzales and Sorrento would get a slice of Ascension Parish tax dollars under legislation that advanced Tuesday morning.
House Bill 130 by state Rep. Johnny Berthelot, R-Gonzales, would redistribute money generated by a hotel/motel tax within the parish.
Instead of parish government receiving all of the dollars, Donaldsonville, Gonzales and Sorrento would get some of the money.
Donaldsonville and Gonzales each would receive $75,000 in the first year with Sorrento getting $5,000. After that, Donaldsonville and Gonzales each would get 12 percent with Sorrento getting one percent.
Berthelot said parish officials agreed to the change.
The Louisiana House Appropriations Committee voted, without objection, to advance the legislation to the House floor.
