Gov. Bobby Jindal’s top political aide said Friday that the governor’s campaign doesn’t own a website that suggests the governor is running for president in 2016.

“We don’t own it,” Timmy Teepell said. “It came as a surprise to me.”

Teepell ran Jindal’s 2007 campaign, served as his chief of staff and now is with the suburban Washington, D.C., political strategy firm OnMessage Inc.

A number of bloggers speculated Friday about the website — “Jindal2016.com” — and how it might indicate Jindal’s active interest in pursuing the presidency.

The website links viewers to the campaign website Jindal used when running for governor, which is still active with tweets and news releases.

The website domain name is registered to Vineet Kewal Ramani, of Frederick, Md.,
according to Network Solutions.

Another waste of taxpayer money, or maybe private donation money to give Bobby plenty of good propaganda! Jindal travels constantly and has yet to be the least bit transparent about who is paying for what are obviously campaigning trips. This year the legislature needs to flush him out of his closet and have his entire budget for campaign and travel related expenses exposed delineated line by line with full details and published in the Advocate. It will probably take a whole special section. He has too much money and is not using it wisely. What would he even be doing in the farthest reaches of the Continental United States if he was not campaigning for federal office? Iowa? Oregon? He is trying to become visible. And I fear he's using money that should be going to public schools and health care for the poor.

Who pays for Timmy Teepell? I met him once boarding a plane to Oregon when he was (incredibly) taking leave from being chief of staff for the Louisiana governor in order to help in a campaign for a guy running for governor in Oregon. How responsible is that? Were things going so smoothly in Louisiana that Oregon needed our help? How did Teepell get to the airport that day? What funds were used? The Jindal groups is often campaigning when traveling around the country. Who pays for this? I am sure they will say we have campaign funds for this, but I suspect there are a lot of times when it all gets blurry. Maybe reporters could investigate this activity and let us know.
