Mexican national gets nearly 3 year sentence in BR gun case Mexican national gets nearly 3 year sentence in BR gun case Advocate staff report July 17, 2014 Comments A 30-year-old man was sentenced in federal court to nearly three years in prison on Thursday for being an illegal alien while possessing an assault-style shotgun, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office said. Juan Flores-Flores, of Mexico, had already been deported at least three times when Baton Rouge police searched his vehicle in January because it matched a car seen during two burglaries, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release. While searching the vehicle, officers noticed the shotgun lying in plain view, the release states. The shotgun was reportedly stolen from a pawnshop that had been recently broken into, according to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office. The sentence was delivered by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson.
