Shooting victim identified

Baton Rouge police working traffic heard gunshots early Saturday and found a man’s body on Wenonah Street.

Officers found the body Javontia Davis, 24, 2663 Wenonah St., just before 2 a.m. Saturday, Cpl. Don Coppola said.

Officers had been working traffic control around 2600 Plank Road when they heard the gunfire. Emergency Medical Services pronounced Davis dead at the scene, Capt. Archie Lee said early Saturday in a news release.
