Concealed handgun classes offered by Baton Rouge police Concealed handgun classes offered by Baton Rouge police | Advocate staff report June 11, 2014 Comments The Baton Rouge Police Department will offer three concealed handgun permit classes on Saturdays in late June and early July at the department’s pistol range in Zachary. The classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 28, July 5 and July 26 at the range located at 999 W. Irene Road, police Cpl. Don Coppola said. Baton Rouge police firearm instructors will teach the classes that cost $100 to attend and are open to people 21 and older, Coppola said. Participants have to attend only one session to become certified, and they have to bring their own handgun and ammunition for the class, Coppola said. Classes are limited to 20 people per session. Anyone interested in signing up needs to call the department’s Training Academy at 389-3886.
