MARTINVILLE — A St. Martinville man is in critical condition after a weekend crash that trapped him in his overturned car.Alcohol likely played a part in the wreck, officials suspect. Darryel Ledet, 59, was driving on Duchamp Road in St. Martinville with a male passenger, his son Daryel Ledet, 35, at around 1 a.m. Sunday, St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Maj. Ginny Higgins said. The Chevrolet Camaro that Darryel Ledet was driving flipped, pinning the two men. Emergency responders removed Ledet’s son, then had to cut into the car to remove the elder Ledet, Higgins said in a news release. Higgins said Ledet was in critical condition and taken to a hospital. The accident remains under investigation, she said, and charges are pending as deputies await the toxicology results.
