Eunice officers arrested, accused of not assisting other officer in fight

Two Eunice police officers accused of not helping another officer in a fight in early April were booked into jail Monday on counts of malfeasance in office, officials said.

Officers Jade Weaver and Tayla Fruge were placed on administrative leave while St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators reviewed the case, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said.

The incident occurred on April 1 after which Eunice Police Chief Roland Dies requested an investigation by the sheriff’s detectives, Guidroz said.

Both officers are Eunice residents and both are out of jail after posting bond of $2,500 each.
