Arrest made in June 9 slaying at Club Shenanigans Arrest made in June 9 slaying at Club Shenanigans Advocate staff report April 17, 2014 Comments A 20-year old man was arrested Thursday on first-degree murder and other counts in the June 9 fatal shooting of Octavia Jackson, 27, at Club Shenanigans, 3964 Plank Road. Dannaryo Lathers, 20, 2245 Cunard Ave. was arrested on an additional three counts of attempted first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, according to Baton Rouge police. Octavia Jackson, 27, 2326 Rhodes Ave., was shot multiple times in the upper torso with a handgun while sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle at about 2 a.m. outside the club, 3964 Plank Road, police said at the time. The driver, a friend of Jackson’s, drove her to Baton Rouge General Medical Center hospital, but she was pronounced her dead on arrival. A second victim was shot, but survived. The shooting followed an argument inside the club. Octavia Jackson’s mother, Gilda Jackson, has said her daughter was at the club celebrating a cousin’s birthday with other family members.
