Employee fires back at would-be robber Employee fires back at would-be robber Advocate story April 10, 2014 Comments Lafayette police are looking for a man who fired a gun Saturday night while attempting to rob a convenience store, only to be scared away by return fire from a store employee. The attempted robbery happened about 8 p.m. at H & C Neighborhood Food Mart in the 700 block of North St. Antoine Street, said Cpl. Paul Mouton, a Lafayette police spokesman. A black man described as 6 feet to 6 feet two inches tall with a medium build entered the store armed with a black revolver, Mouton said. A store employee told detectives that the man demanded money from the worker and then fired a single gunshot, at which point the employee fired back. Gunfire did not strike the employee, and detectives do not believe the man who attempted to rob the store was struck either, Mouton said. Police ask anyone with information to call them at (337) 291-8600 or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-8477.
