Bryant Rogers, 25, was arrested on one count of first-degree murder, and Karin Dupuis, 26, was booked on one count of accessory to first-degree murder, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Kip Judice said in a release. Deputies arrived at the couple’s home in Carencro at 6:40 a.m. Friday and found the infant nonresponsive. Investigators were initially told the infant, whose name was not released, had accidently suffocated overnight and was found by his mother Friday morning, Judice said. Investigators, after examining the evidence, “concluded that the child had severe trauma consistent with prolonged abuse,” Judice said. Detectives on Friday determined the boy died Thursday due to an injury. Judice said the couple lived together at the home located in the 100 block of Le Medicin Road near Carencro. Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the infant was a girl. The Advocate regrets the error.
