St. Landry Parish Sheriff: Missing Opelousas man found dead near home St. Landry Parish Sheriff: Missing Opelousas man found dead near home Joseph Lee Simien Sr. | Advocate staff report March 25, 2014 Comments OPELOUSAS — The body of an Opelousas man missing since March 9 was found near his Sidney Charles Road home over the weekend, officials said. Foul play is not suspected in the death of Joseph Simien Sr., 78, who suffered from the beginning stages of dementia, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Megan Vizena said in a release. Simien was last seen March 9 and his family reported him missing on March 12. His body was found Saturday morning just west of his property line by sheriff’s detectives and members of the Texas Equusearch Team, Vizena said. Sheriff’s detectives and deputies along with volunteers searched on foot, in the air and on ATVs for days after Simien was reported missing. An investigation continues, Vizena said. The St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
