Opleousas woman, 27, killed in St. Landry crash Opleousas woman, 27, killed in St. Landry crash Advocate staff report March 27, 2014 Comments A 27-year-old Opelousas woman died in a two-vehicle crash shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday on La. 10 in St. Landry Parish, State Police said. Brandi Chambers was driving west on La. 10 near La. 182 in a 2003 Chevrolet Impala when, for unknown reasons, she turned in front of a 2012 Dodge pickup, according to Trooper First Class Stephen Hammons, a State Police spokesman. The pickup, driven by 28-year-old Brandon Fisher, of Morrow, then struck Chambers car. Chambers wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, Hammons said in a news release. Chambers was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office. Morrow was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, Hammons said. Routine toxicology samples will be taken to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
