Man arrested in February home invasion

A Lafayette man who police say robbed a woman during a home invasion in February was arrested by Marksville police Monday, Lafayette police said.

Robert Lavergne, 54, was picked up on the Lafayette warrants alleging home invasion and first-degree robbery, Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.

On Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. a man forced his way into a residence in the 100 block of Chicago Lane, stole cash and a woman’s vehicle, which was found a short time afterward by police, Mouton said. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The case remains under investigation, Mouton said.
